Easy to remove Decklid panel from GT?

Actually, since I apparently missed the deadline to order a 2010, my order got cancelled.
So I'll just have to make do with a 2011 GT 5.0. :-)
Since I ordered the same packages though, I'll still have to remove the decklid panel eventually. I plan on getting lemans stripes on it as soon as I get it, so the panel will have to come off. I'll probably just have the body whop where I'm getting the stripes put on take it off.
How did it come off? Was it just held on with tape, or something else? What does the panel underneath look like? Is it good enough to just put the stripes down on it?

I took the car to the painter last week and got it painted, so the decklid panel came off. He said the decklid was easy to remove, but the pedestal spoiler was a bitch.
I think it looks a lot better w/o a panel there.
