Default 2010 GT500 Conversion

Hey Fellas, haven't posted in a while but I think today warrants it. Regretfully I got into a little fender bender on the way home from work today and totally scorched my brand new 2010 GT's front bumper and front passenger side panel ! I took my car to my local dealer immediately after, hoping this might be a good time for the GT500 conversion. The price he gave me for parts, paint, and labor seemed wayyy too high though and I wanted your guys' input. He quoted me $4200 for it all! what do you guys think?? Is this as ridiculous as I think it is or am I just paying a premium since this is a 2010?? Thanks in advance!

first I would go to a body shop, not a dealership. I have a very small dent on my A pillar and the dealer quoted me at 740, the recommended by a buddy, body shop said they can have it look like it was never there for 170...

Are you going through your insurance? Shouldnt they be telling you recommended places to take it? Also, that gt500 swap is going to cost a pretty penny.

In the old days, the insurance company would pay you directly for the damage after you got 3 estimates. So, if they paid you $2k, you could use that toward the $4k conversion.

Might be harder to make that happen these days, as they like to pay the shops directly. Maybe you could find a shop the insurance company will accept, but who will also do the conversion. Then, just work out the price difference with the shop.

If the dealer says they will get u the parts, paint and install all for the $4200 Id say thats a good deal. Parts alone are that expensive.

Also, go to more expensive shops for your estimates. Less money out of pocket.

Pascal said that an old GT500 conversion would be around $4,500.

When I did mine (not for a 2010 GT500, mind you), after parts and labor it was around that much. So yeah, $4,200 sounds about right.

That being said, that's not *over and above* the payment your insurance company will be providing, right?
