Are there better bulbs for the front lights & fogs?

In my experience with Silverstars, it's hit and miss. I've had a set last a few years, and I've had them last only a few months (on more than one occasion). If you look at the back of the Silverstar box that your bulbs come in, it shows you there that the bulb life is much less than a stock bulb.
I say save your money and go for the Retro-solutions HIDs. They have the bulb capping service which will even out the light pattern, which does give you VERY USABLE LIGHT, better than most stock HIDs I've seen. In the past aftermarket HID kits weren't very good and the light patterns were all over the place. With the newere digital ones with the bulb caps, they're light years ahead of the ones in the past. My light patterns are perfect, it lights up everything and doesn't blind oncoming drivers. After having HIDs you will NEVER want to go back. I drove a rental car a few weeks ago at night that didn't have HIDs and I felt blind.

The silverstars do have a shorter life span but the crappy bulbs that your car came with need to go. They're horrible. I opted for the "longer lasting" (who the hell knows for sure)version of silverstars called xtravision (if I remember correctly). Made by the same folks at Sylvania, made a huge improvement at night. No comparison to the crap that it came with.

what is the difference? Are they brighter and whiter?
I agree the stock "color" or temperature bulbs are bad..
anyone know the bulb numbers off hand? Are they found at local auto parts stores?
Can the fogs be done as well? Are they the same bulb as headlights?
Lastly, are the easy to change?

Stock fogs are H10. If you have OEM HID headlights, and you're looking to match the fogs, you want to change the fogs over to 4300k . . . supposedly.
I haven't done it yet to know for sure, but it's on the list . . .
