I'm just curious if there is a way to get rid of the black stripes on the side of the new 2011 MCA. I like the styling and the front grill, but I don't really like those stripes. The Ford website doesn't let me delete them either.

I also did not like the "Nike" hockey stripe on my 2011 V6 MCA premium convertible. I had them removed at a local Ziebart outlet. They used a low temperature heat gun to pre heat the part of the stripe they were going to remove next. After the stripe was removed they used an "eraser wheel" on a low speed drill along with acetone to get the rest of the glue off. It came off perfectly with the underneath finish in perfect condition.
just use a heat gun, to loosen up the glue, then with a microfiber towel, find an indent and start pulling off. afterwards. a wash, paint cleaner, clay, and wax it.
The stripes just peel right off. Grab a heat gun or hairdryer, heat up a corner and peel if off. Clean up any residue and your done. I took of my CA special stripes a few days after I got my car.

i did it on mine.
Actually, never having done that before, I was happy to pay $40 to have the two stripes taken off. I would not have known just "how hot" to get the stripe before you pull - too hot, hard on paint - not hot enough, leaves a lot of glue that can be difficult to get off. On the glue, the glue "far under the stripe" came of with some acetone. The glue closer to the edge of the stripe would not just "wipe off" - car was 2 weeks old (Curing is faster close to air). That was where the "eraser wheel" came in to get the "glue at the stripe edges" off. The longer the glue has cured, the harder it is to get off. They told me that after the stripes have been on for a few years, it is a "body shop" job. Good learning.
I took the stripes off so I could add the 3D Carbon "side scoops," from DG Auto.
Yes, the stripe is vinyl. It really is the glue that can be difficult to remove - even with a stripe that hasn't been on the car very long. I was told that, if the stripe has been on the car for "a few years," the stripe gets "brittle" and becomes very difficult to remove (It drys and "checks"). The fellow said, at that point, you really have to use the "eraser wheel" to take the vinyl/glue off - and that you have to be careful - at that point - not to damage the paint.
