I am so torn between wheels. Love my Brembo 19"s tho. The ride is waaaay better than my Motorsport 20's. Had both on these car with identical suspension set up.
Actually the wheels Wiking have are lighter than the stock 17 and 18" wheels. The 20x8.5 Godspeed wheels are 24.5 pounds each. And going with a lower profile tire on the 05+ cars not only help the looks but also really increase the handling ability. There are some heavy wheels out there but a larger wheel doesn't always mean more weight.
I get that, I was just thinking a 17" light weight wheel vs the larger ones, even the "light" 20's are heavy imo. Compare 16lb to 24.5 like you claim are light. And you end up with a total difference of (98lb vs 64lb) 34lb more of rotating mass. Thats a pretty big difference. And then it's compounded by the fact that the further the weight is from the center of the axle the larger effect it has. And I think you'd notice a decent difference. Both in handling and a few feet in stopping distance.
And while I understand some people are just into the looks side of it more than performance. I just don't understand buying a car aimed at performance (GT and better models) and then making it slower.

Depends on how much performance they are looking for. I won't be doing any all out racing, but I like a car that gets out of its own way. I like a car that looks good as well. Improving the looks of the car at a slight reduction of performance is a good trade off, especially if it is a small enough reduction that I wont notice it.

I once had a friend that cut everything out of his camaro even the internals of the door support and the inside of the fenders and bumper with just enough metal and stability to hold the front fasica/fenders and hood also with the rear bumper on with 1 seat, and just a gauge cluster just to get weight out of his stock block LS1 that ran high 10s N/A ... to some people weight is more serious that others
btw he even drove on the track naked to just save weight ...
