On the edge of tinting windows (NJ)
#31
Thinking of getting 35 front + 15 back, Ohio law limit is 50 but thats just not worth it, a buddy of mine has had 30 for a year and no cop trouble, guys think i should risk it? my car sits outside in the sun all day so im hoping to keep my interior nice.

I think 35 and 15 would look nice on your car. I'm in Cali and I plan to do the same. The limit here is 70% so it's even more pointless. I do see a lot of cars with 70% on front and 5% on the other windows. It's kinda funny looking.
I've thought about going 30.. since I'm already going 35, right? But it's a damn slippery slope lol why don't I go 25% if I'm already at 30%?

thnx, yea I think I'm prolly gonna go with that combo, could just roll my windows down if I see a cop coming. and yea I kno what you mean bout the slippery slop it's like, well 30 wouldn't be that much darker than 35 and it would look better but then again 25 is only a little bit darker... and so on and so forth

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New Jersey, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
• Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield.
• Front Side Windows No tint can be applied legally to this window.
• Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
• Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

just had my doors done at 20%. I will see how long I last, tinting the doors is NOT legal at all, any shade where I live. I never had problems on other cars/truck, but like you say, my car is also a heat score, now with the windows and black tail lights. Been about a year with the taillights and no problems as of yet.

I wrapped mine in 15%, including windshield strip, and have had it for ~6 months now. Never had a problem. I regularly drive in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama; registered in KY. With the map lights on at night, it's pretty easy to see in.
