Default DIY: 2010 GT front end conversion to GT500

** Build Instructions Available Here **

In the attached PDF I documented the steps to upgrade a 2010 GT front end to a 2010 GT500.

Job Time: Approx. 2.5 Hrs

The process is good for the following:
Bumper replacement
Hood Removal (with the washer lines in the hood)

The tools used:
  • Phillips screw driver
  • Flat head screw driver
  • 1/4" socket wrench
    • 5mm socket (Lower shield)
    • 8mm socket (Left & Right GT500 mounts)
    • 10mm socket (GT500 Air Splitter)
  • Rivet gun (4) rivets

Optional:
Tool for removing plastic push pins

Recommended Parts List:
  • Front Bumper Assembly
  • Front Air Splitter*
  • Front Grille Assembly
  • Lower Grille
  • Center Bumper Support**
  • Left Conversion Bracket*
  • Right Conversion Bracket*
  • Isolator Assembly
  • Front Grille Emblem (optional)
  • 2 Fog Lights w/ Bulbs / mounts
  • Fog Light Wiring Harness
  • GT500 OEM Hood
  • GT500 Radiator cover

*You will require the Extra Bolts, and those clip/nut items I try to list them out the best I can in the write up.

I hope this is helpful.

Wow dude, kudos! That's awesome that you took the time to show the steps and everything involved. You didn't have to do that, yet you were kind enough to share. Thanks.

Thanks. I did it for two reasons.
1. I see a number of people looking to do the same thing. I was hunting around for a DIY myself but couldn't find one and figured I would give it a try.

2. Where to get parts: I have done alot of hunting around, and I am confident with a little time you can put this kit together. You can find some of these parts as take-offs. The perfect examples are the hood and the front air splitter. Sometimes you get the wing or rear lower valance.

I really want to do this..but only thing I dont like is that cobra badge..You cant remove it really because it has the plate behind it part of the grill to put the badge in..I just dont like having a cobra badge on my GT..but maybe can figure a way to remove it..I love that front end..if I can ask what did the total parts cost

Could always go with an aftermarket grille.

I agree, but I like the front end enough to do the mod. I am not a fan of the billet either. Someone up for doing a "Mold your own grille" DIY :-)

You could saw away at the grill with a Dremel until the cobra outline has been shaved away.

You need to have more posts on the site before you can sell or open attachments. I think its 10-20, should be in the selling rules somewhere. I emailed you the info. Thanks. Email me if you have any other questions.
