They actually paint them before sending them out. If you want I imagine they can send you one unpainted. I bought mine unpainted but I picked mine up.

Is it possible to.. uh.. cover the CDC decklid panel in vinyl? Or how about painting it? I'm going to have some vinyl striping on my hood and those chrome bezels for the rear lights. I'm going to either get the bezels vinyled (if possible?) or painted and I would like them to color match.

I was also thinking of somehow filling in the grooves of the panel and smooth it out and have it vinyl'd.

Appreciate it, thx!

And you are correct sir: the "bump" (infrastructure which protrudes into the cap for mounting rigidity) was cut out, a new piece of metal was stitch welded into its place, then sanded down/prepped/painted/etc.

Credit for help in accomplishing this (though he lives too far away to do the work) goes to a forum administrator from the southeast US who, uh, is pretty good at making recommendations about how I accomplish this whole feat (since this is his forte'.) Thanks again, Mr. P-scal.

Thanks bro! Plates? Hmmm... I suppose since I couldn't find mounting holes, I did away with them.

Ford did a lot to clean up the looks of these cars in 2010 but didn't go far enough. That stupid faux gas cap is definitely something they should have gotten rid of along with most of the ugly 2005-2009 car retro design cues.
