On pure highway, (no stoplights whatsoever), maintaining 65-70 MPH, in stock tune, I observe as high as 28 MPG average on a 100 mile trip.

In town, with a mix of some highway and some stop and go, I observe 21-22 MPG avg over a week's time

Now, I have a 93 octane performance tune loaded in and for the same city/highway mix around town, I see 20MPG avg in a week.
I have yet to try and see what the avg MPG on the pure 100mi hwy trip would be. I am guessing 24-25 MPG avg?

I'm not trying to sound like a wise guy,but If your driving a 5.0 GT or a 4.6
Who cares ! It's all about the feeling you will get when you push
that peddel down, you feel the nose of your car kick up a little and your
head snaps back into your seat ! awsome !

@ dadnpony - haha that's true, that is what I always did in the SS Camaro to my friends. I'd tell them to sit up a bit then floor it and their whole body would slam into the seat. I think the new Mustang GT would be even more aggressive??

When you guys fill up the tank how many miles do you usually get until empty?
I'm just trying to decide whether the 5.0's mpg differs too much from the new V6

To be honest with everyone, one of the reasons why I bought a Mustang is because it actually gets a couple more MPG over the Camaro, and without the need for cylinder deactivation too!

I always laugh when I read that. Miles to empty is a computer generated value based on prior driving style and using variables calculated by the onboard. You might as well guess how much a dump will weigh; you'll get better accuracy.

Trying to compare your gas mileage with others can be frustrating due to the huge number of variables at play. I've driven my '07 GT on the same 400 mile stretch of highway, at the same cruise control setting, fuel from the same stations, similar weather conditions, tire pressure verified at 33 PSI before each trip, yada-yada, well over 30 trips and my mileage would vary by as much as 4 mpg between 22 and 26 MPG at a steady 70 MPH. On the other hand, my g/f's '06 V6 would get about 15 MPG, 90% city driving and a lead foot.
