Brand suggestion for wheel paint?
Hello all, I just recently was able to pick up a stock set of silver Bullitt style rims and tires off of Craigslist in the hope of painting the spokes black and using them as my summer set. And just like most projects, I have been doing research into it before actually attempting to do it myself. I have been how-to guides as well as watching videos, but there are still a few things that haven't been covered, such as:
-What brand of wheel paint shall I look for?
-Should I look into engine or caliper paint instead?
-Will black still give me a bit of a "shine" with clear coat? I seem to find lots of flat black, but nothing for gloss. Satin also seems common.
-Should I also mask off the inside of the wheel? Should I paint the back at all?
-Should I wait a few months to paint them since it's still snowy/rainy around here in Ohio until then?
I'm sure some of these are stupid questions and that I will come up with more again soon. This is just something I haven't tested my hand with yet, and I would like to get all the information I can before diving into it.

you mean rattle can?
I went with dulipcolor wheel paint
yes clear coat will give any color you use a glossy look with more depth, more clearcoat = more shine
I didn't even really think bout the back/inside, just left it as is
warmer weather will help the paint cure better so probably a good idea

I used duplicolor low gloss black high heat engine paint and krylon satin clear. I will post some pics later for you to see how it turned out. I think it turned out well. I have used duplicolor wheel paint before but in my opinion, the engine paint goes on MUCH smoother and evenly.

i just used duplicolor semi-gloss. no special high temp or anything like that. its not needed. the duplicolor semi-gloss is fine.
its held up very well the past several just doing a couple coats.
just make sure you said the wheels before you paint. that way the new paint sticks well and doesnt chip off.
anyway here's a pic of mine.
i gotta say. the paint i used is great with brake dust. its almost invisible and even when the wheel is covered in it, you can hardly tell bc all it does is make the paint more "flat" looking. lol. then when you clean it, it has more of a shine (still not gloss though).
