Not sure what to make of this?

@11 GT CVT - NICE CAR!
Yeah, that is my understanding. I know a former executive for another big three. His experience included a 70 Barracuda and various other vintage hot rods!
The concern he expressed was if it was a "press" car which gets "non-standard" treatment. I bought the car last November with 35,700 miles.
If it is an executive car, it is a daily driver and gets free scheduled maintenances and oil changes.
As I posted in a previous thread, the interesting thing I found while researching the lifter tick issue (yes it has it!) was the engine tag indicates an odd sequence for the build date. Then I noticed the serial number (????) See image below:
If my logic right, it is the first 3.7 engine. When I found the sticker and the sharpie markings, I just thought it was a little odd. I had to post it!

then according to CVT, it must have been passed around a lot? seeing as the average of miles driven in a year is about 12-15k. when did they start selling '11's? i got my '11 in may 2010 and as far as i know it was the only one in the dealership (it was even on a pedestal! =D)

From what I can tell from the sticker reproduction, this car was made on January 20, 2010. I think production started for the 2011's in March.
"3/15/2010 - 2011 MY Job #1 Date for 2011 Mustangs"
The car was bought at auction on October 25, 2010 and was put up for sale at the dealer on November 7, 2010. I bought it on November 11, 2010.

Its common practice to have "fast feedback" vehicles driven by employees a month or two before launch to get a larger group driving them to squeeze out any final bugs. After a 6 month lease they are put up for auction. I doubt you have the first 3.7 made, it just has a different part number because these were built along side 2010 mustangs.

@ibihab--Thanks! Real happy with the build Ford did on it!
I also agree that is was probably not the first engine produced. 35000 is a lot of miles to accumulate between January and November. Could you possibly mean 3500? Could have been an early pilot car ( a build that is done before the plant starts the real build to check assembly processes ). One good thing about being a press car is those cars usually get 'special' attention during the build or after to make sure that the press doesn't have/find any build quality issues.

i have a similar problem. I have a 2010 ford mustang GT. I have had problems with my Navigation/SYNC. it was not recognizing my VIN #.. after 4 days at the dealership they finally fixed it. The dealership had contacted FORD and they told them the car was 135 out of 200 cars made that usually get "crushed" after their use, but some make it to the auctions. I tried to call FORD and they couldn't tell me anything about it. Now back on the phone with the dealership to figure out what was going on. ALSO my interior door panels are different and they wont fix it for me! Has anyone heard anything similar to this?
