Maybe valid when you're talking about under sunlight but color has no effect on heat exchange if it's out of the sun's reach.

If there's a specific kind of paint that allows heat transfer just fine then I'd do it, otherwise I don't know that I'd want to play with the heat properties of the radiator since it's a sensitive item that allows everything to play nice when you're flogging the car.

At one point it time, all of them were painted black. Then, when aluminum was discovered to work, the black paint stopped. I have done them both ways in various Mustangs (new and old) with no ill effects.
