The New 5.0 - pushrod?
Hello guys, I don't venture far from the fox section on this site but I have a question.
I was at a car show on saturday and a respectable mustang guy told me the new 5.0 cyote motor was a push rod motor.
That the ohc 4.6 was scrapped, and its back to basics. Is this true? Anyone have a layout of this motor that isn't covered in intake plastics?

Well, he's HALF right, the 4.6L was scrapped.
The new 5.0 uses many of the same tooling components used by the 4.6l.
Both magazines, Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords, and 5.0 Magazine have had indepth write ups about the new engine. 5.0 had the best of the two. I'm sure if you went to their website, you can read it again.

Yea, I think he should be taken off your "respected" list after getting a basic design element wrong you can identify just by popping the hood. An overhead valve design wouldn't really be getting back to basics either. There's a lot of advantages to it, and the Corvette seems to hum along pretty good.
