Default did anyone paint the taillights?

Hey guys I got a 2011 GT. Right now I have taillight covers on my taillights but I wanted to take them off and tint my taillights, lower bumper light (idk what it is called), and my third brake light. I went to a local place that does stuff like that and they said they can spray them with night shade spray but it doesnt last as long and to make it have a reflection you need multiple layers which may crack. They said the best way to do it which will last and look the best is to have the taillights painted with multiple clear coats. But to have it done by them its an extra $175-$200. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if you need special paint? Pics?

I used VHT Niteshade on my reflectors and it looks great. Probably 3 coats, no cracking, and it has a nice glossy finish.

Sprayed my previous cars' headlights and it lasted for at least a year (I sold so I don't know how long it lasted).

Did mine with VHT as well. Still holding up fine. Just be sure to put a clear coat on - take your time and do it right. There are numerous videos on how to do this on the internet. Costs less than $20 to do it yourself.

Also, don't pick a windy day and watch out for little bugs flying around - they will certainly land on the lights when wet. :-) I know from experience.

I got mine from 'Smoked out tail lights' on ebay. I love them and his customer service is amazing. He's respraying my 3rd brake light right now because the douchbag at the body shop decided to use masking tape on it when finishing off the rear spoiler delete which destroyed the clear coat. Did I mention he's doing it for no cost at all to me?

Very nice. I like the black/yellow theme.

I used the vinyl tint from Stangmods. Worked great, they have smoke and blackout.

Thanks kzontz, check out the ROTM voting, i'm one of the nominees this month (the theme is yellow stangs)

OP, Member search Cutterwolf for another excellent reference of a 'smoked out tail lights' customer.

@kzonts I love how yours turned out. It looks good I might go a lil darker on the tails but keep a light coat on the 3ed brake light. How many coats did you use? And what did you use for your clear coat?
