Default Hood Scoop mounting survey

Hey all - I've been reading through hood scoop mounting posts for a few days and their is much discussion on mounting hood scoops on our cars. I am hoping to find success stories that 3M tape ONLY is actually holding your hood scoop on. I am not into drilling holes anywhere in the body of my car but I certainly don't want to see a hood scoop bouncing off my windshield at 100mph.

So, with all that said, I'd like to hear from anyone who has added a hood scoop and if 3M only has worked out for you?

Thank you !

I have a "3M friendly" hood scoop on my 2005. If you want a hood scoop, then drill it on. Mine is drilled in and still looks like it wants to fly off at highway speeds sometimes (obviously not to the extreme but enough to get me ticked off).

Drill especially if it is not functional. All that air hitting is a lot of force.

I drilled mine and use 3M Acrylic Tape.
I also used the 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter
and I advise you to use it also if you go
the 'tape only' route.
Scoops that require drilling only have marginal
tape areas to afix them with...

Thanks guys - I was expecting to find that drilling was going to be the only secure method. I think I am going to start looking into a one piece hood and scoop combination.
This is more costly but I'll save my original hood and open up more options for scoop designs. I have seen some used for the 05-09s very reasonably priced but for the 2010+ models I may have to go new.

There are a lot of different hood options for Mustang. I hope you have the cash to spend on it though. You have to think that a new "muscle" hood generally is above $500 and that's unpainted. A hood scoop itself is so much cheaper. But it's your car. For the longest time I was like you "I am not drilling!". Then I did and was very happy with the finished result.
