HIDS on non-equipped 2012 mustang
Hey everyone. I have a 2012 5.0 that came without the HID option. I was wondering if I could buy the new housing (from the 2013) and use it in my car, or what the other options fellow enthusiasts had?
Looking to change both the headlight and foglight, and want pure white which i believe is like 4500k?
Any advice is appreciated as i'm not too knowledgeable on lighting.

I think would be really expensive, like nearly $2k just to convert headlights to factory HID projecrs. The black aftermarket projectors that American Muscle sell look good. But I've read a lot of complaints that they don't put out as much light as factory non HIDs.

this is the dude to speak with. he can retro-fit a custom setup in your stock lights and provide everything you need to install em back on your rig.
probably not worth going the OEM HID route unless you can find a pair on the cheap from a wreck yard.

Honestly, like the person above said, it would run you about $2k for the headlights alone which is ridiculous in price. Yes those 2013 headlights look bad *** but just not worth it in my personal opinion. But to each his own, and if you're willing to shell out that much cash, more power to you.
But, to if you're just looking for the projectors which H.I.D.'s look and color flicker effect, do what I did along with many others on here. Go the retrofit way. It's waaaaaay cheaper, very clean, and you can custom them to your liking. I have a thread on here titled "Retro fit done, check it out". You can see what mine look like. Trust me, they look awesome day and night. Perfect cut-off beam, and color flicker. These are true HID projectors and the way to go in my opinion. Just so you know I paid about $390 including 4300k HID kit!
Message StockD15b, he's the man when it comes to retrofitting and I would recommend him to anyone. You can tell him I sent you ;-) he's the same person that Entaille provided above in the link to his facebook page.

Below is the cheapest set I could find right now. About $1400 for both sides and yes they will fit. Nice thing about the Ford OEM lights, is the ballast, ignitor, and all the extra parts are built into the headlamp assembly. It then plugs into the factory wiring harness like a halogen headlight.
But, like these guys said, its expensive, and there are aftermarket solutions for you as well. I think American Muscle has a great set of directional HIDs for a fraction of this price. Up to you though. I can tell you retail on the new OEM light assembly is around $1150 each, and wholesale is around $900 or so. Good luck!

As others have stated, getting your OEM lights retrofitted (or other lights) is the way to go. StockD15b is the man! Significantly cheaper than purchasing a new set of lights. StockD retrofitted my Raxioms and they are great. Here's my install thread; shows just how easy it is:

Hey guys. I'm kind of in the same boat here. I have a 2011 5.0 that did not come stock with HID lights. I'd much rather have the OEM lights but they are expensive as hell on SilverState Parts website. I found a listing on ebay for 2013 HID lights brand new.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300778732022...S:1123&vxp=mtr however they only come with the ballasts and not the wiring. I also have the Raxiom halo projectors from American muscle and an H11 HID kit http://www.hidkitxenonlights.com/h11...onversion-kit/ I'm looking at maybe going to a custom wiring shop. Kind of hard to find a good garage car shop in Toronto.. Please help me out fellas. I just wanna get my bright whites going... Thanks!!
