1986 Corolla vs. 2011 Mustang 5.0
I work with a guy who tells me that his bone stock 1986 Toyota Corolla AE-86 can not only win, but kick my 2011 Mustang 5.0's *** on what he calls a "technical course" i.e. lots of turns and no real straights.
I have tried to tell him all the reasons that he is just a plain old idiot (I have better tires, brakes, power, suspension) but he just doesn't seem to get it. Is there any numbers on what his car can do in the slalom or skid pad? I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it?
Thanks!

This was the most stupid thing I've ever heard in my life a corolla not even on the course with the most turns in the world could ever have a chance vs a 2011 5.0 the horse power torque and suspension wise the numbers would never add up to win and the reason you can't find anything on the Internet is because what is the reason to track a bone stock 1986 corolla?

I'm not surprised, among some the import crowds, the ae86 is regarded very highly. In my opinion, the only reason people **** bricks over that car is because it was one of the few RWD models in a time where most manufacturers were switching to front wheel, just like how everyone today is falling over the FRS and BRZ.
That guy has a healthy dose of Fast and Furious-itis. Why not just run him? Do you guys have any auto-x clubs/meets in the area? You won't find anything much on the Internet or otherwise to prove this guy wrong. You could try finding lap times around well known tracks for the two cars, but again, I don't know who would track a 20something year old corolla and post times for it.
Good luck either way, even if you find information contradicting him I doubt he'd see reason. I've seen plenty of people like him, in their mind their car is king- for whatever deluded reasons. Leave him be in his happy little world and enjoy your car, because it is a million times better.

I agree. Import guys like to get their jollies off to a 1986 corolla.
Look at it; It's so dope.
Looks like a bad winter beater to me.
There's really no need to be a jerk to the guy, as he's obviously just jealous of your 5.0. I would just agree with him and then invite him to a friendly autox race if he continues to badger you about it.

stupid car. a lot of the teenage JDM nutswingers like it - it's lightweight and rear wheel drive and fairly 'rare'. it was brought to popularity through drifting and some stupid anime series.
he's just trying to cling on to something. you have a nicer car, so naturally, he wants to believe his is better some how .. talk is cheap though. go to a track : )

LOL you know me 07, I have tekk flowing through my veins.
Yeah IMO those cars look like ***, but fit well for the decor of the 80s.
Not sure why this thread is in the appearance section though lol. Mods should move this elsewhere.
