Absolutely what was said above.....they will fit, but will likely have the "stretched" look....no getting around it when you put a tire sized for a narrower rim, on a wider rim.

As mentioned in another post, a 255-275 will work perfectly on a 9" wide rim.

the rims i have now at 18x8 stock wheels and the new ones would be 18x9

Get the 18x9 rims. Put your stock 235/50's on them. When they wear out put 255/45's on them. The 235's will fit on 18x9's, they will be stretched a little but who cares, at least you can wait to get new rubber and use up the stock tires. Don't get a smaller rim just for the stock tires, you will be sad later when you cant get a wider tire.

yea very good point i just dont want the car to look stupid
