RTR Rear Spoiler (broken stud!)
#11
No luck. Welding a new stud on would trash the powder coated finish. All of the over the counter epoxies aren't strong enough to hold a bolt on while torqued down... I'm sure there's some sort of industrial epoxy that would hold. The studs are mainly for lining the spoiler up properly. It's not going to come off with all of the 3M tape, it's just lifted a very small amount on one side. Nobody will ever notice, but I'm OCD.

I understand it's your choice to keep it as is or sell it...being OCD myself...I'd say weld it and powder coat it if the cost is cheaper than a new one...or buy a new one and try selling the original to offset the cost.

Fixed! Removed spoiler, grinded/sanded broken stud area, sanded head of new bolt, JB Weld(allowed 24hrs to dry), spray painted bare aluminum spot flat black, removed old 3M tape, cleaned everything with a lot of rubbing alcohol, applied new/more thin 3M tape(extra strips on side with broken bolt), used a washer inside the trunk lid hole with a locking nut, hand tightened until small amount of resistance was felt. I also put my body weight across the spoiler for a good 10-15 minutes so the tape would hold strong. Since the 3M tape I used was thinner than what CDC uses, it actually sits the spoiler down a little closer to the trunk, less of a gap across the back edge. Hopefully that JB Weld holds up to shutting the trunk, I'll just have to remember to close it easily!
