Default Recessed Fender Emblems

Here's a little project I've been messing around with. I was thinking of ways to make very subtle mods to my '11 GT as I redo it over the winter. I plan to start a separate thread on the overall build when I have the time. I'm not all that far into the project just yet. I am a big fan of the Chip Foose school of thought on doing appearance mods that look as though the they could've from from the factory. I'd like to get some opinions on this one. Leaning toward the old school customs where things were "frenched" I thought it might be cool to french my emblems. So, I made up a die out of 3/16 steel plate and by putting it into a bench vise and cranking down on it with a piece of sheet metal in between it stamps the shape into the metal. My plan is to then take these small stamped sections, and weld them into my fenders. Let me know what you all think, I think it looks pretty good and would be a nice mod that not everyone would even notice.

I have mixed feelings about the concept, but the execution is incredible!

I just noticed I posted this in the wrong S197 section. Should've been in '10-present. Maybe a moderator can move it for me?
Thanks!

Got the right fender welded up and ground today. I have a little bit of metal work to still do to correct the minor warpage then a skin of body filler and some primer.

Looks good.. Would have been even better IMO if you could have brought the inside of the 5 and the 0 up to the surface as well. Then there would be no more cursing as you try to dig the dirt/dust out of the crevices in the numbers themselves when washing/drying.

I really like it. You'll likely be the only one with that.

I might have tried to just imprint the fender itself rather than weld in a piece. I've never looked on the inside of the fender though so there might not be access to do it that way.

I thought about that and when I experimented with a few small pieces in the die I made I noticed that the smaller the piece was the less distortion I got around the stamping. I was afraid I would've destroyed the fenders. With the way the metal gets pulled around when it's stamped I figured this to be the better way.
