The V6 Mustang Needs To Die
One of our writers isn't at all impressed with the V6 iteration of the new Mustang. Does he have a point?

what a stupid thing to write. How in the name of hell is the 3.7 "outdated?" The reason the V6 Mustang is "not impressive" is because it's clear Ford doesn't want anyone to buy it. You can't option a V6 Mustang up, you can't get a premium trim, it's there for cheapskates and fleet/rental customers. That's it.
I'd like to know on what planet an all-aluminum, 24-valve, 300 horsepower V6 with variable valve timing is "outdated." that has to be the mind-bendingly dumbest thing I've read today, and the day's almost over.

I agree with you jz78817.
It looks like a re-post of something he wrote about the previous V6.
Anyway, I'm a V6 owner and I love it!
I road tested the EcoBoost with the performance package before ordering my 2015 and I have no regrets.
I just don't love the sound of the four-cylinder, even with all the aftermarket exhaust that I've heard.
But there's no way that I will spit on any Mustang because it's not the one I choose.

It isn't necessary to put the 6 down.... Ford is gradually phasing it out anyway in favor of the new more economical turbo designs and of course the bigger and better 8s. Having drove a 2011 w/6, I would not downrate it for any reason, and certainly not for being "outdated". However, it can be improved with exhaust/tune mods which puts it ahead of many older and genuinely outdated 6s and 8s. Ford wants it to go for corporate fuel economy ratings reasons, not engine quality.

A Jr. High level opinion paper at best. No real facts or figures behind it. If you don't want a v6, don't buy it. IDK I was hoping for an actual article with something to back up the opinion, not just a tantrum...
V6 made up to 60-70% of sales of the Mustang in the past. With the ecoboost it will probably be 30% V6, 40% ecoboost and 30% V8, that's just a guess though. There is easily the ability to add DI to the current 3.7L so the engine may live on for a very long time. They may add Turbo to it or may dump it for the 3.5L Ecoboost. Time will tell.
The V6 was slightly detuned for 2015 so that there would be a small gap between the V6 and Ecoboost 4 from the factory...
