Well this is what i get for trying to help Ford out and buy a 2010 GT. I should have waited a year. To me, this article all but cements the fact that the "coyote" V8 is coming. If i had heard of any of this after i got back from Iraq and was looking for a muscle car, I would have waited. Now im going to have to buy a supercharger...

Why would you need a supercharger? Will these new motors suddenly make your car slower?

Really? No, not slower then when i bought it, but certainly slower then the V8 that will be arriving...

I do not understand why anyone would want or "need" any more power than this has stock - unless you are taking it to the track. It is so easy to get to 60 mph + before you know it. Plenty of passing power and fun power and great sound. In real world driving this is more than enough IMO.

For me its not entirely about that. That fact that I bought a new model and less then 6 months later Ford is making major drive train improvements is lame. And based on "my" personal opinion, this car could use some more oomph. It does accelerate nicely from a stand still, but for me, it could use more power for rolling acceleration.

Bottom line is that im not so pissed about the power and speed, im pissed about major improvements so quickly. Its like early adopter Iphone people having a newer model being sold a couple months later. Its just bad business in my opinion. They should have waited to release the car until it was "complete". To me it now feels like I bought a rushed product.

I agree that making major engine changes 1 year after a new model is questionable. But I imagine they have been feeling heat ever since the new Camaro came out to put out comperable HP/TQ #s in the Mustang and this has been in the works for years. They probably did not with the '10 models because of the economy and their own financial situation last year. Now it seems that Ford is on the right path and can afford to make these changes now.

1 thing to consider is the 4.6 has been around forever and you basically have 0 worry about problems. With the new V6 and V8 and transmisisons, who knows about the reliability. And I agree it probably is rushed now and like the early Camaro models; there will be issues.

It seems that new models of everything are coming out right and left, I do not understand but it seems that there are enough people that want the newest and best to support this type of business decision

if they dont do a 4.6 for 2011 what will this do to our 2010 for mods? Will it affect the availability for 2010 only aftermarket mods? I know stuff is already out, but will they not make as much of it due to a 1yr run? Kinda stinks I guess. I myself wouldn't go run out and get a 2011, but will prob wait for 2012 or 2013 and trade mine in.

Hadn't even thought about this aspect.

I've been trying to look at this from all angles and it seems just positive from about every angle, expect what you are thinking about.
The best part is ford just keeps making it better and better (although it may have taken the competition to kick them in the rear).
Back in the heyday, I'm sure they had engines/body styles that were only available for 1yr, the 2010's should then be considered "sought after 1 year only models".

But damn, now I want to trade my V6 for a 305hp V6, probably can't get it for 17.5K new like the last one...

One last note - Way to go Ford!!!!
