So I was just thinking about the mustang im going to buy (when the economy turns around and I get a decent paying job lol). I am stuck between the gt and the v6. Ideally I want that 5.0 but the savings in fuel and savings in cost of the vehicle (7k) would certainly be nice.
A turbo or blown 3.7L would probably be a really nice package BUT so far everyone is worried about the CR....
I was thinking about it and the SHO runs the 3.5 @ 10:1 CR...only a half a point lower than the 3.7. The SHO runs 12 pounds peak boost and obvioiusly is safe enough for a production vehicle backed with a warranty.
SO.... I am really thinking 6-8 pounds on the v6 SHOULD be pretty reliable so long as the tune is relatively safe...?
Thoughts???
Any projection on HP/TQ figures on 6-8 pounds?

AFAIK people were saying the CR was high on the 5.0 and that it was good on the V6 so you may have that turned around...

This 3.7 is so new and there is so much we don't know about it. Additionally the new 6 speed transmissions are new as well and again, there is so much we still don't know about them. I would be inclined to let some professional level shops go through the trial and error for at least a year or two before I committed to modifying this new engine in any significant way just to be on the safe side. But that's me.
