Default MPG 273 vs 331

I went with a six basically because I drive 125 miles a day. I'm getten ready to order up the 011. Just wondering if anybody knows what I can expect the MPG difference to be if I go with the 331 option.

In my manual the best I got was 34.5 mpg average on a full tank of gas. 2.73.. And manual our cars are rated for 29 mpg highway.. Also driving at 65-70 which seems to be the sweet spot on our cars.. Plus thats texas speed limit

I get similar numbers with my 4.0 and I have 331 gears! I actually get better than that highway a/c on and 72mph

I only have 500 miles on mine, so it's still difficult for me to tell how well I'm doing. It's difficult to keep my foot out of it as well. I'm guessing my numbers should also improve over time as the car breaks in a little more.

how long does it usually take for it to break in start getting better mpg because i have roughly 550 miles on mine ( v6, 2.73, mt ) and I'm averaging like 20 with mixed, and I always have my info thing set to mpg display and try to stay in 5/6 bars

I know with my 350z, driver reported going 5,000 or so miles before noticing a real difference in their fuel economy. Not sure with this car. Some engines are pretty much already broken in at the factory. The owner's manual states that you only need to do a break-in for the first 100 miles.

I think in the 2010 manual it recommends 1000 mile break-in period. I think I noticed on mine after 2000 miles the mileage got better. I now have close to 16,000 miles and on average I get 20 mpg in the city, and between 28-30 on the highway! I fill the tank right before the gas light comes on or very shortly after. So always about 13.5 gallons - 14 gallons at fill up. Mine is 5-speed manual with spirited driving each tankfull!

I have a feeling that yours will do much better after break-in.

From what I have found in other cars I have had, gearing differences similar to that will allow for 1-2 real world "highway" MPG less.....as far as in stop or go driving....it is about the same. Under 45mph, the gearing can hurt or HELP your MPG but a very small ammount (less than 0.5 mpg) on a regular basis.
