Default 2011 V6 - Cold Air Intake

Has anyone had dealings with or purchased components from MMR. It seems they have first available CAI for the 3.7L.

I saw this too. Considering the new V6 already has a CAI, I am very skeptical it will make any additional power. If it does open things up, then certainly we would lose a little peak TQ, which I don't think I want to have happen. They say it will gain you 15HP, but is that RWHP or just HP? If it's flywheel HP, then I don't know if it's worth it. Would love to find a few modest, sleeper mods to give me just a little edge over stock, nothing crazy. But if a CAI and a tune gave me 30-40 more RWHP that would be very nice indeed.

There just isn't enough testing out yet. There needs to be a first with everything so.. buy it and let us know!

I was told by a tuner that, "Ford's idea of a CAI is not the same as the aftermarket - the main difference would be in the size and shape of the tube, especially where the MAF is housed. The reason most aftermarket CAIs require tuning is due to the fact that the MAF housing is much larger, thus skewing the readings and causing lean conditions."

A CAI will add more hp and torque though out the entire RPM range and add peak power to this engine. There was already dyno's done.

That looks nice I thought I read things about their intake not making anywhere near the claimed hp on the 2010 gts? I really like how its just a straight shot to the throttle body very nice, I wonder if they block off or re use some of the stock air inlet. As I understand it the stock system is pretty efecient for taking in cold air.
I went ahead and pre-ordered the C&L intake system a couple weeks ago, its supposed to be shipping sometime at the end of this week to beginning of next week.
I also saved $30 as pre order was $299 w/shipping and I see today that their site has it for $329+shipping. I can't wait to see what kind of reviews dyno numbers it makes as C&L usually makes good quality parts for mustangs

My only deal is this, if you go all way down read about the CAI for the 6, they pretty much are sayimg not much differ than stock, and I can talk from experience, I traded my 2010 GT after spending A COMBINED total of $900 on a CAI From JLT, a SCT X3 hand held tuner and a custom dyno & tune at the speed shop. This was my 2nd custom tune, the 1st tune was 800miles on the '10 GT with stock CAI, k&n drop in filter, the only reason my RWHP went up by 2 hp was the tuner played around with timing more, he said damn, the stock CAI is breathing as good as the JLT, AND after reading CNLPerfomances article on their CAI for the V6 and doing CAI on the '10...i think ford has done a pretty good job allowing the '10 and '11 to breath, yes a aftermarket looks cool and cleaner, buy it for that reason and you won't end up at cruise ins and track defending how much HP you gained, just throwing that out there guys, this is a guy dropped about $4000 into a new GT that never got a blower or going into motor for 16 hp.

Thanks for the heads up on the CAI. Looks like a K&N drop in would be the best intake $$ spent.

welcome...like I said, just what I found to be true, now with that said, yeah if you had a 09 and earlier the CAI probably makes a worth while investment but ford I figured it out in '10 , now '11 and now it comes down to under hood appearance, and since I saw my dyno results, I realized was more looks, on that note 2 months ago I spent 150.00 on a 93 tune for that '10 GT up from a 87 tune and got 1.5 hp more so there ya go..now I am going to get the tunner and tunes from amer. muscle when they finally make them, here is a email I got from them today, the tunes do make good perfomance and better mpgs too.

Jerry,

Unfortunately the 2011 V6 tunes are not ready yet. I would check back in another week or so as they may be ready then.

HEY! You almost stole my SN lol jk jk

I was looking at that last night....give it a try...MAFS looks to be about the same size so you're really just gaining from a better filter and less turbulence
