Just have some punk-*** jealous kid dump some crap into your tank once, and the capless design will be the worst thing ever, lol. Just playing devil's advocate here...
I guess I'm in the minority here. The capless system wouldn't be bad, if the damn tank locked via the release from inside the car. Having the flap require nothing to open AND having the tank open, just seems like asking for trouble to me. Oh well, I solved mine with the "plug" pictured earlier. It comes off way easier than a cap, just lifts away...

I dont know many jealous kids that carry sugar around with them.
A locking cas flap is just an invitation to damage from a screwdriver.

Sorry, but thats a dumb line of thinking. Nobody will see the locking "plug" unless they open your fuel door, and if they are doing that, they are already looking for trouble. I never leave my car parked anywhere anyhow, so its a moot point for me. I had the plug from my 2010 F-150 that I traded-in for this car, so I popped it on there. I still think the zero locking scenario is stupid, especially with gas getting expensive again. YMMV

FWIW, Ford is now showing the locking plug as an option when you use the Build One feature on their website. They should be available for order at any Ford parts counter.
But I would expect there to be a (better) locking fuel door available by now. I had one for my 2005. It was from AMI and I got it from Moss Motors (according to my records).
Needed a little key to open it each time, but I liked the idea of a locking door instead of a locking gas cap. That way you just turn the key, open the door and leave your keys hanging. With later models they had a tiny little hook on the inside of the S197's fuel door that you would hang the gas cap's line to. I don't know if the aftermarket doors would have that (but they SHOULD!).
I had tried the whole locking gas cap thing but hated turning my key while all my other keys hung there, possibly scratching my paint. And since there was no hook to hang it on... well obviously I got rid of that thing ASAP.
