Default tire troubles

2011 coupe, v6, 6sp man. 12,000 babied miles, OEM p zeros all season tires
At apx 10,000 mi I noticed a growling sound at around 10-15 mph. During routine oil change at Ford I had it checked out and was told that the tires were cupped (all 4) due to normal rotation and the only solution was to replace the tires. That didn't sit well. I called customer service at Perelli and was told that cupping is the fault of "defective suspension components or out of balance wheel/tire assemblies" Ford says the alignment is dead on and tires were in properly balanced. NOW WHAT??? Has anyone one else experienced this problem??? Any help apprieciated!! thanx TG

Did you see the tires? Were all 4 cupped on the inside or outside? This is very unusual, usually cupping occurs on the front, not on a straight axle like we have on the rear.
Did you check the balancing weights? Are they still on the wheels? Is it possible some one took the weights off? I would take the car to a tire dealer to get a second opinion.

Have you got the tires replaced and if so did the "growling" go away?
Just because Ford says 'cuped tires' does not mean that is whats
causing the "growling"
The suspension/balance problems that led to this supposedly 'cupping'
would have been noticed bigtime during the first 10,000 miles of operation.
If the tires are indeed 'cupped' I would suspect defective tires before
suspension/balance problems causing the 'cupping'.

I agree about defective tires. The customer service guy at Perelli wasn't buying it. Yes all four were cupped on the inside. This would be a result of rotation. I believe I got the blow off from both.

Cupped tires don't growl. They go wup-wup-wup. A properly balanced and properly MANUFACTURED tire should not go out of balance bad enough to produce cupping by 10k miles. They were obviously balanced incorrectly at the factory. If the dealership says the balance and alignment were dead-on, then they're either wrong OR the car came with defective tires from FORD. Either way, they should be responsible.

I have 24k miles on my Goodyear Eagles and have never had them balanced or rotated since the initial install and they're fine. I have 53k miles on my SUV tires and they've never been rebalanced or rotated and they're fine (besides some front tire edge wear from my "aggressive" turns).

Yea, I had my new BFG KDWIIs balanced once
and rotated them once during their 30K mile life.
They wore straight accross and stuck to the road
like the dikkens.
I rotate when the wear dictates, not when the odometer
dictates.
