3.73 gears done
I have two Mustangs a 2001 GT with too many mods to list: 420hp and 404tq, and a 2012 base M6 V6. My '01 has 3.73 gears. I had my tuner install 3.73 FRPP gears on my V6. They are whisper quiet and make a huge difference to the car. Power in every gear at every rpm, with a loss of about 3 mpg city. I seem to remember someone on this thread saying 3.73's were to low for this car. They could not be more wrong. These were the gears that were meant to be on this car. This should be your first mod. I have a sct3 tuner for the speedo correction and I will probably just do light bolt-ons for this car becasue this is my winter car. I currently have the 87 octane Bama street tune on the car and winter tires on stock rims. I got a deal on a set of 2012 GT take-off 19" rims with tires for $700 (2500 miles) for the summer. They are the ones painted black on the inside and brushed aluminum on the outside "spokes". I think I went off on a tangent. Anyways, if you are thiking about gears, get 3.73's and have them installed by a pro. You will not regret it.

When someone types M6 V6, the M6 means manual 6 speed. I am running Mastercraft Glacier Grip II, 215/60/17 M+S. They are almost the exact same height as the summer wheels and tires I am putting on in the summer 245/45/19 Pirelli's. I got them at Belle Tire for like $500.

Well, pretty similar, minus the power of course. Sometimes, you have to feather first when starting off (which you get used to) but all the other gears are just so much more usable. I love rowing a shifter but the 2.73 gears were ridiculous. Now there is power in most gears at most rpms. Just really transforms the car.
