So have you confirmed that your car has the 3.31 gears as this Order Guide states it should ??

If this is true, I find it interesting that you can't get 3.31 on ANY V6 Convertible in the states, yet it is the ONLY available gear on 2012 Canadian Convertibles.

2011 Canadian Order Guide is not as defined ... on page 2 it states all V6 comes with 2.73's but on page 4 states all come with 3.31's.

2013 Canadian Order Guide reads just like the US availability has been since 2011 ... 2.73's std., 3.31's optional Coupe only.

Did Ford not already squeeze every mile per gallon out of the non-coyote V6?
I know tunes can kill all those hours of Fords squeezing to get better HP and
WORSE gas mileage but a tune to INCREASE gas mileage?

I really want to know where the OP got his info about him buying a Coyote.
From the salesman or an honest mis-informed buyer mistake?

This is our second Mustang. In 2010, my wife's company gave her a new Mustang Conv, as a bonus. When we went to configure it, we had the option of a 2010 or the new 2011. We knew the 'Coyote' V6 was coming in the 2011's, so we went with that one.

Let's try this one more time:

"Coyote" is Ford's codename for the new 5.0L V8. Only.

The 3.7L V6 is not a "Coyote". It is a member of the "Cylone" family of engines.

The car in general is not codenamed a "Coyote" (it's still designated S197)

I have a 2012 3.7 with 2.73s in the rear.
I asked the same question as the OP and stewed over it for about 6 months.
In the end I went with the Steeda CAI and Tune. I do get better gas mileage with this set up then I did stock, I also enjoy the sharper throttle response, greater torque and better sound.
As far as economy goes, I would say this, if you drive 10-15 miles per day, it will take a long time to recoup your cost on the CIA and Tune. (I spent $699). But if you Drive 75+ miles a day like I do then an extra 1.5-3 MPG adds up a lot faster.

In the end for all the all the "thinking" and investigating I did on the subject I spent to much time thinking about MPG and not enough thinking about how enjoyable it is. Getting a CIA and Tune is kind of a jumping off point for the bolt on mods. I am running a 91 octane Tune and it is well worth the cost of Parts and Fuel. It pretty much makes me smile everyday and I enjoy driving that much more. I do spend a fare amount of time limited by the flow of traffic, but those times when you want to take advantage of open road, change lanes, or what ever opportunity comes your way it is nice to use that extra power.
LA traffic can be a ***** but those times when you out throttle all people that drive like they just got out of the loony bin or like they just stole someones ride, it is really nice to put them way back in your rear view mirror.

Default another way to put it

I wanted more performance but I did not want to ruin my gas mileage. I was willing to spend money if anything for thrill or fun of more power but I did not want to get punished at the pump and I drive quite a bit. So putting it that way it is kind of a win win for me, I got more power and a little bit better gas mileage.

I live in So Cal and the gas here is pretty damn expensive, I think I paid $4.32 a gallon for U76 91 octane this morning, I could have gone to arco and paid more like $4.19 per gallon but I wanted to try other brands to see if there is a difference. It seems like each car I own runs better on a different brand.

I hopped on the freeway to head to work which is slightly up hill all the way except at the end where you come down a fairly steep hill you just climbed. When I rolled off the ramp my MPG meter said I had gotten 34.8mpg, and I did some aggressive driving getting on the fwy and passing the space cadets talking on their cell phones and putting the make up on, you know the annoying and slightly dangerous people who wander around in and out of their lanes and can't keep a constant speed to save their lives. So it was a 25 mile fwy trip where I did not baby the gas mileage, before the tune and CAI I never saw those kind of MPG numbers.
Stop and go traffic will take a bite out of the MPGs and so will idling in the drive through at In and out, but hey, that is what a Mustang is all about.
