Default 2011 V6 Clutch Problems

Greetings,

I am new to the forum and about the start looking for a 2011 V6 Premium convertible with a manual transmission. I have been reading that there have been issues with the clutch and am wondering if they were resolved by Ford near the end of production for the 2011 and how I might find the answer.

One thought is to contact a local Mustang club since I plan to join anyway.

I have been driving manual transmission vehicles since the beginning and have never had any problems that I did not cause and then only once. The exception to manuals was the automatic in my 1968 GTO. Wish I still had it but there you are.

You may want to post this in the 3.7 technical discussion. You may receive a better response. I have an 05 and recently replaced my clutch out at 65k miles. The slave cylinder/throw out bearing went out and had to replace everything.

You are right, I did not pay enough attention to where I was posting. Thanks.

I've got an early build 2011 with over 44k miles and have had no clutch OR transmission problems.

80% of my driving is on the interstate with the cruise set @ 75, but I bang through the gears / beat on her a bit when I have a chance.

There is the occasional driveline shudder upon decel at certain RPM's which is supposedly due to the Dual Mass Flywheel, but you just learn how to avoid it while driving. It supossedly is less harmfull than it is anoying so it does not bother me.

When the clutch needs replacement, I will go with an aftermarket single mass aluminum flywheel and matching clutch & PP. The stock Dual Mass is only serviced as a complete package (FW, PP, & Clutch) so aftermarket is likely cheaper than OE anyway.

I have read that others have experienced Pressure Plate bolts losening but you probably have to drive a lot harder & more frequent abuse than I do to experience this.

As far as the trans, it is a little stiff when cold (what manual trans isn't ??) and I did replace the stock shifter support bracket with a Barton and this really improved shifting.
