Going to looks at a '11. Anything I should be concerned about?
So its time to upgrade SLowPig. Going to look at a 11 Auto Premium with 35k on the clock. Are there anything that I need to look for? Any TBS's that I should ask about or make sure where taken care of before buying? Any problems with these engines or trans to be worried about? Ok last thing....and I feel really, really, stupid asking this but......what are gears 1,2,3 for? Having had a 85 Fox 4 banger, and 95 6 banger, both manual, I have never driven a "sports" auto before.
Thanks,
Matthew

the gears are the same as a manual would be. you can kind of control what gear the car is in by selecting them up to third.., and there are plenty of situational times when you may want to.
it is *not* a shift yourself friendly automatic setup. I believe they remedied this with the 13's with some paddles. 99% of the time you are best off leaving it in drive and just mashing on it
any reason you aren't sticking with a manual? lots more fun IMO! back in 2010 I test drove an auto 5.0 and was no longer interested in the car in general. it took me a while to even consider test driving a manual .. totally resparked my interest in the platform!

I wouldnt mind a stick but traffic here in LA is a PITA and I am kinda tired of the constant fight with my clutch. Auto isnt as fun to drive I know but I dont really race anymore and am ready for the simplicity of an auto. PLUS I cant find a manual in my area in my price range with the features I want in the color I want.

Check the front lip of the hood to see if there is any corrosion coming through. They will only cover it under warranty up to 36k miles. Sounds like you are close. Other than that, listen to the engine on the drivers side. There is a thread here somewhere about the ticking noise that may be heard. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Good luck.

The V6 is rated higher HP than the GT but the GT has a good bit more torque. If she beat a GT, then the GT driver sucked because there's no way a stock V6 3.7L can beat a stock 4.6L GT.

That being said, they are a comfortable ride. Just don't exceed 135mph and your driveshaft should maintain integrity
