Gears 2.73 to 3.73
#41
So all in all you're better off going with the $270 kit with the gears, rings, and bearings as opposed to the $160 kit with just the gears because the shop will charge you for those parts anyway? Is this correct? Seems like labor costs are through the roof!

It's really better to do it right the first time than to have to pay a second time to do it right.
Buy quality parts, and buy the *correct* parts, and the only thing you can't control is their (in)ability to perform the swap correctly. Remove as many variables as is humanly possible.

I went from 2.73-3.73 gears last summer in my 13 3.7.
Otw to steeda in valdosta driving 70+mph ac on 2 people in car got 29.4 actual mpg*miles driven divided by gallons consumed*
Otw back I drove about the same minus getting on and off a few on ramps and more downshifting to help break in the gears.
With the new 3.73s installed and a steeda 93 canned tune it got 29.7mpg.
Since then I took it to sgmp for pony wars, otw it got 29.5 mpg there and 30.3 return trip.
Btw even though the air was better at sgmp that day vs the last time I ran at steele in al, on stock tune but running 93oct and stock gears on st tires.
I never did better then 14.3s, I made three 13.5 passes at or over 105mph during pony wars.
Only different mods were the gears/tune and I switched to the open upper&lower grilles.
These little motors love gearing/tuning and high rpm's*rev limit conservatively set at 7250*
