Default What does CAI and exhaust do for a V6?

I have a 2012 V6, so far I've installed an Airaid cold air induction and just put a set of Bassani axle back mufflers on. Does anyone know what the real world horsepower increase this does for it? I'm thinking of the Bama flash tuning kit, but not right now. I don't think I really feel anything, but didn't expect to be overwhelmed anyway. Would an X-pipe make any difference either, and how involved is installing one? I'm a home garage tinkerer so not too involved please. Thanks

The tune is where the majority of your power increase comes from. A CAI is good for maybe 5hp by itself. Changing the exhaust (headers, xpipe, axle-backs) will net a larger HP gain than a CAI.

The only mechanical thing I've encountered that was difficult to do at home was swapping gears. I've done everything else myself. Doing an x-pipe replacement is easy.

You've definitely got the basics started! I would recommend going with a tune next, that will tie everything together. You'll notice decent power gains from just these mods, but you'll really notice the gains once your tuned!

Give the Bama team a call and speak with them! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I don't recall what the 3.7 gains from a CAI & tune but it's likely in the 20 RWHP range. As stated above, the stand-alone CAI is about useless for power gains on any of these later gen Stang engines. On good days, the 4.0 gains about 15-20 RWHP, the 4.6 gains about 20-25 RWHP and the 5.0 gains about 30-40 RWHP.
