Default Fish-Tail out of a turn - Traction Control Off?

So I'm on the gas a bit in dry conditions on asphalt, right turn, and the rear end breaks away and I fish tail briefly up the street.

Is my traction control off? Nothing on the dashboard letting me know.

Traction control usually kicks in after extened loss of traction like in grass or if you floor it on sandy asphalt and don't let up or try to do a burnout.

If you feathered the gas or touched the brakes to recover from the loss of traction the electronic nanny won't kick in since it would most likely screw up your recovery by second guessing you.

The nannies are there to correct a continous mistake, not drive for you.

Got it. I guess I thought TC kept things from breaking away in the first place in the same way anti-lock breaking keeps tires from sliding.

TC keeps you from a continuous loss of traction by cutting power. It doesn't 'create' traction. Tires and suspension create traction.

My ex-wife creates her own gravity field.

Last week, Google called her to see if she'd roll over so they could update their satellite maps of the eastern half of Oklahoma.

"That's no moon.... that's my ex-wife!"

Really depends on the system. My 2k1 TC lets the wheels slide a good bit before kicking in. My wife's BMW with automatic stability control doesn't ever let the car get out of hand. There is a difference b/w TC and ASC.
