Smile Hood struts

Just installed MMD bolt-on hood strut kit and got rid of prop rod. What a difference it makes --- especially at car shows. Don't know why Ford didn't install them as stock item. Guess to make me pay American Muscle $69 (on sale).

I agree! The hood struts should have been a factory option from Ford, they really do make a big difference.

Post up some pictures, we'd love to check it out!

I agree, hood struts should be standard equipment. I think the reason they're not is, I had them installed on my last car, but had to replace them after a little more than 3 years. Eventually they fail just like any other strut, where the prop rod will never fail. So be prepaired for the extra expence down the road. Just an FYI.

Thanks for the warning. I kept my prop rod just in case the struts fail.

I've put the brackets on for mine this last winter, but could not get the struts to move enough to mount them. Its been a pretty warm summer so maybe I'll try to mount them this weekend. Otherwise, I'll be calling AM for some replacements.

Looking good and so much nicer with them!

They look great. I put the same ones on about 6 months ago but havent really got to see them as I dont open the hood often as of late. And as for having to replace them after a few years that doesnt bother me. As someone who had to replace an engine (on my 95) with the hood prop ALWAYS in the way Ill gladly pay $80 every 5 years.

As my FIL is in town, I put him to work holding the hood up so I could get these on. I missed them!
