You can always put the car back to stock, it is one of the options on the tuner. But with the 2011+ Mustangs the PCM has a marker on it that tells the tech that the car has been running a modified tune.

I see so even after tuning it back to stock, it would still be possible for ford to see that a tune had been previously ran. Thanks for the info

How do these AM tuners differ?

SCT SF3 / X3 Power Flash Preloaded Tuner (96-14 All)

Bama SF3/X3 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (05-10 GT)

Is it the "free tunes for life"? The first one seems to indicated that it is for heavily modded cars and should be taken to gt a local dyno tune.

Thank you Texas. I have 14k on it. I see you have a 13 also, so I guess it'll be ok, once I save up for it.

Look for sales. I got mine at AM with a CAI combo on a pretty good sale last spring. As for tuning or not, you'll have to decide if you can sleep at night knowing there's a hole in the warranty vs. the smile on your face when driving the car.

Thumbs up INSTALLED THE AIRAID CAI!

Simply love it, great pre-curser to a tune when I get one. Excellent build quality, looks like it came from the Ford factory. Fit and finish is worth every penny. Installation was easy, but it's a very tight fit so be patient, it's worth it. Love the throttle response improvement, sound and I did notice a slight increase in MPG. Gonna keep my eye on that one.
Anyway, happy trails and so am I

Can you really feel the difference in a tune? Would the difference in power feel similar to upgrading the gears from 2.73 to 3.31?

I can't really answer that one but if you change out the gears you will need a tune at that time anyway. You could get your Ford dealer to do that work just so you keep your warranty in tact but that will cost you more for the work.

HP difference on a V6 is typically 15-20 HP, so you will definitely feel a major difference in performance.

This particular tuner has canned tunes and will not be specific to your Mustang. The performance gain will be minimal.

Bama SF3/X3 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (05-10 GT)
The custom tune is made specifically for your Mustang and will get you the most performance gains. This also includes the Free tunes for life.
A large majority of the members have custom tunes. I highly recommend this!
