We recently compared a car with 30,000 miles without one and mine which has had it on for 55,000 of 65,000 miles of driving. My intake manifolds were almost dry and the other 3.7 had pretty good sheen inside.

I finally got me JLT and put it on around 16k. Was waiting to check it until 20k oil change. My question is how tight do you screw on the can? Can it cause harm if it's not tight enough and outside air gets sucked thru it?

I just hand tighten mine. That usually seals it up sufficiently.

I have had a JLT separator on for a while and it seems to do exactly what everyone described. I think it is a pretty common sense upgrade. I would imagine there is a small short term gain but a large long term gain from catching that oil and keeping the intake clean.

I did notice there seems to be a little bit of oil that accumulates on the outside surface of the can. You can see a little bit of dust collecting around the edge.
