Hey all! Just need to know if my 2012 3.7 has a spiral rear brake piston, or can I just use a C clamp to push in in? Don’t want to start, and find out I need one when the wheel is off!! Thanks in advance

Yes, and I believe Ford's also are counter-clockwise twist.

You can get the whole set on eBay, that will have tons of adapter plates,
and two tools. One for clockwise turn while pushing in, and the other
counter-clockwise while pushing in.

What determines needing the tool or not?
If your ER brake cable connects to the caliper, then you need the tool.
If your ER brake system is shoes inside the rotor hub, then no.

Thread didn't work for me 08. OP, yes you will need to compress and turn the piston at the same time. both sides need to be turned clockwise while compressing. they will probably be difficult (mine were). I had to use a cheater bar to get them to start turning. there is a "+" shaped groove/slot on the piston. when your done turning and compressing, one of the lines needs to be lined up vertical in relation to the cut out on the front of the caliper. that groove/slot lines up with the 2 nubs on the back of the brake pad. you'll see what I'm talking about once you get them apart. I rented to tool from the local parts store, didn't really see the use in buying. another tip, take the cap off the brake reservoir prior to compressing any of the calipers. check the level as you go. good luck

Also, that link, it worked when I initially saw it, dunno how it died within the same day...
