Winter maintenance
 

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn't find another place to put it (besides appearance).

I just got a 2013 grabber blue mustang. Unfortunately, a couple weeks after I got it, it's now starting to snow. (Bad timing, right?) I just couldn't pass up the grabber blue that I've been looking for for quite a while.

Since it was sort of a quick buy, I didn't have time to look around for a winter vehicle, so I have to drive this one at least for this winter. What care suggestions do you guys have during the winter months to ensure it stays looking pretty and ready for spring?

I have been taking it to the car wash for a wash/rinse once a week, and giving it a full touchless wash (waxing, undercarriage flush etc) ever two weeks. I am just wondering if I am cleaning it too much, or if that's good to keep all the salt and snow off the car. It's going to snow heavier the closer it gets to February, so I want to get into a schedule now to ensure that it stays healthy. The Michigan winters here are brutal on cars.

Once winter is over I plan to either 1.) Find an affordable winter beater so I can store this one during the winter, or 2.) Invest in building an attached carport on the side of my house, since I don't have a garage.

Are there any sorts of chemicals or liquids I can put on it to keep the paint clean and beautiful?

Get yourself some Fluid Film, and rust-proof the underside. There is a place
here that will do the entire underside for $150, just haven't gotten to them yet.
I got three cans to do the engine compartment areas where I see some rust.
Fluid Film contains lanolin as well, so it sticks to the car, and does not drip
off, unless you really over spray...



You can use WD-40 GEL formula, but you may need to re-apply it every year. The
WD-40 GEL smells and looks the same as Fluid Film, so maybe they lost their
patent or it expired.
