It's all labor, that's why. It's cheaper to swap the whole axle with the gears already
in it.

$800 sounds about right. I paid my local Ford dealer $550 labor to do my 3.73's, but that was 5-6 years ago . Be careful on who you pick to do your gears...……………….

here I go second guessing, my gears are on backorder, so I got thinking, I really don't do any long haul driving, mostly local, so maybe i should think about 370's what do you guys think?

I went from the factory option 3.31 to 3.73 gears. I love my 3.73's and they have been perfect for the 5 -6 years I've had them.
