2012 3.7 drive shaft
Hi All! Getting ready for a 1 piece DS. American muscle has 2.... SR performance 4” and the driveshaft shop 3.5” ...... besides the obvious 0.5” difference, what else is different? Do I go with the 3.5” or the 4”? Any benefits either way? Have BBK short tubes, CAI. Magnaflow axel backs and Bama tune. No track or racing, just my weekend toy. All answers welcomed! I went with the Axle Exchange aluminum drive shaft. I bought it from American Muscle 5 or 6 years ago. They are now sold as SR Performance from American Muscle. It was once said you had to go with a 3.5 inch driveshaft if you are lowered because of possible rubbing and clearance problems. 'This isn't true'. I have a 4 inch driveshaft and lowered 1 inch in the front and a 1 1/4 in the rear and still have a lot of clearance. I haven't ever read anything bad about the Axle Exchange driveshafts :)

After doing some research, I read that I need adjustable rear control arm to adjust the angle of the shaft, is that fact or just a suggestion? |
With your 1 1/2 drop, you might.

Thanks for your reply David! Going think about it for a while. Although,I know I’m going to do it, it’s just more work and $, And doing it myself, I’m just not sure I can handle it!!

Is replacing the current drive shaft for a 1 piece going to help performance? Oh, Hello, I just joined because I am going to buy a 2012 V6 tomorrow.. if the test drive goes good. I am buying a red convertible.

1 piece aluminum is lighter and stronger, and spins with less effort for better response from what in told. The stock is a 2 piece heavy dinosaur that can self destruct at high speeds. There are pleanty Of threads here on the subject, check them out and you’ll see what people say. I’m kind of new to the mustang world myself so I really can’t elaborate much! BTW good luck on your buy! |
