Default 351w carb question

i am installing a 351w into my 90 lx stang and i am debating on whether to go efi or carb. suggestions? i found an intake/carb setup on summit with a 600 cfm carb and edelbrock lower intake and filter setup for like 420 dollars. but will it fit a 77' 351w. i was told that later model 351w are different than earlier models for the intake. something about changing to 60 degree motor instead of the earlier 90 degree motors. does this mean that the intake and carb i found will not fit my 77'. any suggestions?

not true. all 351W intakes will work. is the summit kit for a 351W or a 302? i remember seeing one for a 302, but I dont remember one for the 351W. I say go carbed if you are on a tight budget. it is much cheaper, and it is also much easier.

if i go carbureted, would i have to run any vacuum lines to the carburetor or just hook up a throttle cable and fuel line? also would the carb setup cause even worse clearance problems with the hood on my 90 lx. Will a 302 timing cover work on a 351w. i know that some 351w timing covers have the mount for the mechanical fuel pump, so if possible i will just reuse my timing cover from my 302.

I dont believe that you should have any problems running an electric water pump. Also, there is a VERY good chance that you will have to go with a cowl hood with a 351W swap. Personally, I would go carb'd because its cheap. If you have the cash to play with and you do plan on doing major mods to the car than just go with EFI.

i heard that holley carbs are a pain in the ?.\>. is an edelbrock 600cfm sufficient? it might be cheaper to go carb but is it more complicated for the less inclined if you know what i mean?

If you go carb, go with barry grant deamon carbs with manual secondaries... they can be adjusted to progressive (street) or one to one... If you go carb, you need to be comfortable with adjusting the it every time the climate changes if youre going to build that 351w... If you go carb, youre going to save $$$...

Oh, and no vacuum lines necessary except for the brakes....

i know nothing about carburetors. How hard is the install compared to fuel injection? Did 351w have 19# injectors just like the 5.0 liter mustangs? I can get an upper and lower intake for fuel injection for like 400. and there wouldn't be that much involved in installing compared to carb. I could also keep my stock injectors and mass air sensor until i got the money to upgrade. would my computer be able to handle the fuel injection? would i have to have a tune?
