Default 185s heads too much head for 351

what would be better for a 351 the afr 185 or 165. Im probally going turbo right after so keep that in mind...and is 10.1 compression too much for a boosted application. is 9.1 compression just right for turbo?

Im running afr 205s on my car... as far as power adders go, i understand that lower compression is better...

185s are too small if you plan on using a power adder. 205's are what you should start with.

all a turbo does is essentially up the CR compression ratio.

using 10:1 CR will only inc off boost performance

all you do when the higher CR motor is boosted is use LESS boost than a lower CR motor would

do the 10:1 you will prob be happier with low end and off boost driving

I'm planning on 185's for my 351W, or even TwistedWedges, they'll be plenty of head for that engine.

when i put a blower on I'll just have some port work done to them
to help open up flow

That is the same idea as opening up a set of GT40s for a 400 ci windsor. If you start small you can only go so far. Also consider the time and expense when removing and installing heads along with the down time. Pro porting and bench work isn't cheap. You'll have more in port work that just buying a set of 205's and they won't flow with a 205. Before making a purchase you should talk to a reputable shop that builds performance motors daily and handles all the work in house including head porting. A few good shops would be Bennett racing, Keith Kraft, or Pro Line Racing engines.

those would be a bit on the restrictive side, i think the P's had smaller
valves, if i remember right.

i would stick with at least one of these heads.

AFR165
Twisted Wedge
Edlebrock RPM
