Default what are these

i have a 351w and the guy i bought it from wasnt sure but he thought it was an 81. i want to know what the 4 holes going down the center of the lifter valley are.

hmm i havent had my 351w apart yet. but maybe its where the oil goes back down to the oil pan? just a guess...

those would be called oil drain holes.... they keep oil from pooling in the lifter valley
