Default 99 mustang engine swap

I got a 99 mustang that I picked up dirt cheap thathas become my new project. It has V6 in it now that is shot so its coming out obviously andI'm stuck between a 351 w and a 351 c!! I know I'm goin to have to change my k-memeber and tranny. But for each motor what am I going to have to do for a wiring harness? Can I keep it EFI? Are there any other changes I'm going to have to make? I'd like to be in the 500 hp area at the rear wheels. What kind of heads are my best option for each engine and either way is there a possibility of me getting a 6 speed to bolt up?

The swap is not easy. Carb would be easy. Saves on the wiring nitemare! If you want to stay efi it is a pain to do it right and if you live in a emission area it really gets time consuming. Easy way: Buy a wrecked 94-95 GT and swap all the wiring. You can modify your existing wiring to work but, you have to have a special computer that has been flashed for the 351w. The computer would have to be sourced form a 96 F250 or some explorers had the one needed. The existing wiring mod involves adding wiring and changing th pin programming at the ECU. Very involved and you will need the prints from Ford to tell you what pin does what. The K-member can be reused with special motor mounts or just buy a 94-95 Mustang K-member. As for heads the 351c has hardly even been touched as far as street heads. Yes, yates headss are technically a cleveland design but, they are set up for use on a windsor block. They are also a race head. 351w--TFS, AFR, Edelbrock....depends on you combo. Blown or N/a? Over on some of the other boards there is a guy who put together a good list of parts needed for the swap. Alot of the parts are there for the 87-93 cars and don't work on yours. I believe the website is www.sorscode.com

Thanks for the info! I would really like to stay efi. I live in a non emission state. Thank god!!! I've been looking at wiring harnesses for mustangs on ebay and considering buying one there for the project how much of the harness will need swaped? And then I would be able to use any computer from a mustang of the same years right? I thinking i'm going to go with a windsor and stroke it to a 408. Any opinons of what would be some the best heads for this type of setup? Like I said I'm new around a 351 so any help here would be great! Thanks ahead of time!

If you swap harnesses make sure you get a complete harness from the bumper to the fuel pump for a 94-95 Mustang GT. You may have to change a few plugs to get everything to work. It will save you quite a bit of money. You will also need the guages cluster out of a 94-95 Mustang GT. You will need a 94-95 Mustang GT or Cobra computer. The GT computer is a T4MO. If you pplan on doing a 408 get ready to spend some money on upgrading the fuel system. Being that it is a first try I would go ahead and get it running with the 351w then start from there when you have the bugs worked out.
