Default what heads and intake for 351windor?

Hi, I'm new here, just want advice. I have a '88 Mustang GT with 3.73 rear end gears. I'm going to buy a 351 windsor. As of now it has flattop pistons and a 289 duration camshaft. My mechanic is offering me stock heads and intake. I would much rather have some aftermarket heads and intake that can kick some stuck up little Camaro ***. My car is a daily driver so I want good gas milage. I'm also on a tight budget, so I'm also trying to keep prices as low as possible. So what I'm asking is what heads and intake should I get that is affordable and powerful?

well im no expert on this stuff but i see your only asking about heads and intake but with that 351 theres alot more u have to have to put that in your mustang (swap headers, hood or special mounts, swap bracket for ps/ac, different oil pan like canton or ford racing swap pan, flywheel) im sure there some other things but if ur using the stock t-5 from themustang im not sure how long that will hold up and im doing the same swap but in a 92 and it will be myd/d but maybe alittle racing buti would also look into some suspension stuff mainly subframe connectors and torque box reinforcements the rest you can do depending on how hard ur gonna beat on thecar

oh and to answer your question i hearthe trick flows are good the afr 185 and i personally am going with edelbrock victor jr heads cause i will be using a stroker and for intake the only thing i couldfind worthy for my setup (efi) was the trick flow intake but if your going(efi) i hear you can use a cobra intake somehow hope this helped

I know about the oil pan and all the small things, I just need advice for heads and intake. I was thinking about Dart Pro 1 Aluminum Cylinder Heads and the Trick Flow-R Series Intake. I just want to make sure that set up won't blow out my cam or heads and just **** up in general. Or if there are any better suggestions I'm listening. My mechanic says it has TWR (or something like that) Flathead pistons.

Im rather sure r series heads and intake are only compatible with eachother. If it was me id grab some victor jr heads and intake, but i tend to buy stuff on the budget side.

My advice would be at least 205cc heads. And for fuel injection either the Spyder intake, or a converted 4140 carb intake.

.500+ on cam lift and really free flowing exhaust system.

That will make a modest amount of horsepower, maintain streetability and make future mods a little more realistic.

you can p/m me for specifics and folks to go to for purchase if you like.
