Need opinions for Winter Plans
Hi All,
That's right, I said the WINTER! It's getting pretty close to snow time here in Ontario, Canada. I'm starting to plan for a new powertrain setup for next summer, to build over the winter. I need your opinions on the motor first...
Quick History: '69 351W block
Year 1 - D0OE heads, Performer Intake, 750 vaccum secondary Holley, Crane Fireball II Camshaft. = torquey fun
Year 2 - kept Performer Intake, kept Crane Fireball II Camshaft, went to Eddy 600cfm Carburetor, Eddy Rpm heads, Comp Cams magnum rockers. = better throttle response, better top end
Year 3 - see signiture below+ Crane Camshaft is .512"/.512" lift, 230/230 deg. @ .050" = lots of off idle torque, lots of burn outs, pulls great to 6000rpm, lots of fun.
Now to my question... I want more! I'm thinking Stroker. Just to get it out of the way, If I build the bottom end I can't afford to super/turbocharge, and I don't want to force feed the stock internals. Hence, the Stroker idea. 393 cubes to save on machiningand it's already .030" over for 357cubes right now. Other than the camshaft (I will swap out), willmy carb, intake andheads enough flowto take advantage of393 cubes? Or should I stick with the 357 cubes I have now, notch or swap out pistons for valve-to-piston clearance for a real nasty cam? Can anyone give me a recommendation for camshaft in either of these scenerios. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all with any of your builds this winter!
Thanks,
Indy

RE: Need opinions for Winter Plans
Well? Anyone? Will my Edelbrock RPM Intake, Edelbrock RPM Heads (2.02 / 1.60" valves - 170cc Intake Volume) and 750cfm DP be enough induction for a 393cu.in. Stoker with the right Camshaft?
