I am VERY nervous about the comment above that state a later model 351W is 50 ounce balance.

PLEASE SUPPLY INFO THAT BACKS THAT UP!!!!!

I cant verify that anywhere, and this is critical info for EVERYONE who is doing a 351. Mine is a 351W out of a 95 Ford 1/2 ton and is definetly a roller block.

thx

All 351 are 28.8 balance. 82-under mustangs are 28.8. 82-newer mustangs (HO's) are 50oz. I just took my 91 HO 5.0 flywheel (157 tooth) to the machine shop and had it rebalanced to 28.8. And i had a crank pulley(balancer) from a 351w.

REMEMBER... I had gotten a late 70's flywheel for a 351w... the thing i didnt consider is that the clutch for most older mustangs is only 10". The clutch on most foxes is 10.5" . I found that out with the King Cobra clutch hit. Clutch didnt fit the "old " 28 oz flywheel. Thats when i spent th 60 bucks and had my 5.o flywheel rebalanced.... problem solved. Any1 has any ??'s let me know cuz i JUST completed my install. And figured out all the little crap. Happy T-Day to all

thanks. rorin67 up a few posts has me second guessing the balance of my motor now. I am still 99 percent sure its 28.2. Can you recommend a good economy aftermarket harmonic balancer. I am looking at the FMS stuff. Also, not sure how the pulley alignment is going to pan out. Perhaps I will need a spacer or something between the pulley and the balancer, but I think that is only if I buy the 3.00" sportman instead of a 3.95" stock replacement.

Did you know…
1968-80 302 engines were built
with a 28-ounce imbalance factor.
1981-01 302 engines were built
with a 50-ounce imbalance factor.
1969-97 351W engines were built
with a 28-ounce imbalance factor.
1970-74 351C engines were built
with a 28-ounce imbalance factor.
NOTE: Severe engine damage will result
if you use the wrong flywheel or damper
on your engine.

got this right out of the FMS catalog
