Default AFR 205s

I recently sold my motor, it was a basic 30 over 351, stock rods and crank, windsor jrs, flat tappet cam , vr jr intake and qft 750 carb. Thismotorwent 11.70 @ 116 on the motor and 10.70 @ 125 with a 150 shot on drag radials. I really want to go high9sso i figured with a 408 , solid roller , slicks and a 200 shot i should bethere. so I bought a lightning motor complete with iron gt 40sthat's supposedly been rebuilt 15,000 miles ago. but here's the problem, after i sold the motor my money dried up a little. so i can only afford heads and a nice cam, my plan is to buy the AFR 205s and nice solid roller and put them on the stock bottom end, and run this combo till next winter when i'll be able to stroke it to a 408. Do you think this is a good idea ?? Can i get into the 9s without stroking ,with a different set of heads and can you recommend a cam ?? i mean my car was going 10.70s pretty consistent and with slicks i know it would've gone some 50s . sorry for the long post but any ideas would be greatly appreciated

205's would be fine on 351, get a custom cam to spin it to 6,500+rpms
and those 205's will feed it nicely.

Hit 9's with 200shot probably. Dont know how well that stock bottom end
will last with 200shot pounding on it though.

I would probably drop it to a 150 shot. The pistons are the issue. The rest of the bottom end will be fine. Keep it at 150 with a safe tune and you'll be fine. You might get it in the 9's with the right camshaft. The only thing that will hurt is the compression ratio. I have a friend who has a similar combo that in the 1/8 runs 6.00's on a 125 shot.
