BTW: I stumbled across this post with some good pictures of the Patriot heads:

http://bbs.hardcore50.com/vbulletin/...ad.php?t=43122

Long story short, there is a distinct difference between $800 heads and $2000 heads, but with some work the $800 heads could be far better than the stock boat anchors.

True, with some work they probably could be good heads but, looking at the link and reading through the post thats expensive work just to fix a set of heads so they could be used. For dthe repair work alone you could buy a good set of heads. Right now you can find people selling good sets of TFS, AFR, or edelbrocks for under $1000. Maybe not ported or flowed but, you won't need to do alot of expensive repair work.Afriend of mine here just picked upa set of TFS high ports that had a mild port clean up on the exhaust, had the valves unshrouded, and had been port matched on the intake side for $900. Fresh out of the machine shop. Someone never paid the bill on them so the shop owner sold them. If you can find a set of the new Ford Motorsports Z head those work great.

interesting to see the first pics where the ports are hacked, and the second pics from another guy who bought them and there is none of that (shoddy) port work done. in stock form them look like they could be nice heads with very minor massaging. fwiw there are a couple people on here who have bought them and they have all been happy.
